As a school, we are committed to ensuring that all of our students have equal access to comprehensive Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance programme. We are also working towards achieving the Gatsby Benchmarks, a national framework of guidelines that define the best careers provision in schools. Gatsby Benchmark 5 states:
• Every pupil should have multiple opportunities to learn from employers about work, employment and the skills that are valued in the workplace.
• Every year, from the age of 11, pupils should participate in at least one meaningful encounter*with an employer. A ‘meaningful encounter’ is one in which the student has an opportunity to learn about what work is like or what it takes to be successful in the workplace.
We would welcome any employers who feel they could support us with this.
At Buckler’s Mead Academy we actively promote successful working relationships with local employers, former students, training providers and apprenticeship providers.
