Buckler’s Mead Academy is situated on the east side of Yeovil, a thriving market town in a beautiful part of South Somerset, close to the Dorset border. There is easy access to country parks, stunning countryside and a multitude of beautiful coastline, beaches and scenic coastal paths – all within easy driving distance.
Yeovil has excellent road links with the A30, A303 and A37, with quick and easy access to the nearby towns and cities of Taunton, Exeter, Bristol and Bath.
Yeovil is served by 2 railway stations with good network links. Yeovil Pen Mill is on the Bristol to Weymouth line and Yeovil Junction is on the London Waterloo to Exeter line. Both are served by South West Trains. There are also excellent bus services to London.
Facilities and Recreational Activities
Yeovil town centre is a pedestrianised precinct, boasting shops, cafes and restaurants. There are also a number of retail areas on the outskirts of town and a good selection of large supermarkets. Other facilities include a large Cineworld cinema complex, leisure and fitness centres with swimming pools, bowling and theatre.
Yeovil’s public parks offer a good variety of sporting facilities and playing fields. For those with an interest in sport Yeovil has a Football Club, Rugby Club and golf course. The beautiful Ham Hill Country Park is only a few miles out of Yeovil and offers a large variety of walks with lovely scenery.
